Halifax Central Library

This elaborate project included the construction of the many curved ‘solid surface’ desk and counter tops. The white Corian material used for the counter production is a rigid ½” thick plastic product and will not bend under normal circumstances. To allow the bending, we designed and built our own kiln boxes to heat the components before bending them to the required shapes, a process called ‘Thermoforming’. After the products were appropriately shaped, a spray paint finish was added to achieve the monolithic appearance as envisioned by the architects.
